MIKE CROCKETT ART

Mike Crockett (b.1943) grew up in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. The sea and the culture of those who use it are powerful influences in his painting.

When Mike was eight-years-old, his grandfather gave local Suffolk fisherman, Jimmy Cable, half a crown to take him out fishing off Aldeburgh beach.

Mike’s love of the sea began then. He spent all his holidays from school on the local rivers and at sea, learning the way of life of the fishermen.  A beginning that was to take him on a round-the-world sailing adventure in his twenties.

Art imitates life - and Mike paints without fear, using colour and form as he sees them to create his distinctive images. His paintings are naive but honest , and draw heavily on the experiences of his life. Painting is his obsession and his paintings are widely collected.
